The Hung Yen longan has long been known as a famous specialty of Hung Yen Province. Moreover, it has become a unique and exclusive “brand,” embodying the essence and pride of the land and its people.

Hung Yen longan is a famous specialty closely associated with nearly 300 years of history of Pho Hien land, and is honored by folk tradition as the "tribute longan to the king." Scholar Le Quy Don once described the flavor of Hung Yen longan as “heavenly nectar.”
This product has been deeply rooted in poetry and daily life as a symbol of Hung Yen:
“Though you trade North or sell East,
No one can forget Hung Yen longan sweet.”
On January 23, 2017, the National Office of Intellectual Property of Vietnam granted the Geographical Indication Registration Certificate No. 00055 for the "Hung Yen" longan product, managed by the Department of Science and Technology of Hung Yen Province.
Distinctive morphological characteristics: round fruit, dark brown skin, weight 9.35–13.28g, translucent white pulp, crispy, rich sweetness. High vitamin C content (45.12–59.32 mg/100g), Brix level between 17.63 and 20.88.
Geographical factors: Grown on alluvial soil along the Red River and Luoc River; neutral, nutrient-rich soil with favorable climate – rainfall of 1,300–1,700 mm/year, average humidity of 80–85%.
Human factors: Local people have long-standing experience in cultivation, grafting, seed selection, beekeeping, pruning, and care. Combined with the application of scientific and technical advances, these practices create a superior longan quality, clearly distinct from other regions.
Protected geographical area: Hung Yen City and the districts of Khoai Chau, Tien Lu, and Kim Dong in Hung Yen Province.
